This is one of the most unique and visually balanced courthouses I’ve seen. Built in 1892, it’s just across from DeLeon Plaza in Victoria. It was designed by James Riely Gordon, a titan of the historic Texas building scene. However, of equal impressiveness, is that the final work was approved by Eugene Heiner, who himself was a notable architect.

There are balconies all along the front and sides of the building. The clock is accurate.

The outdoor tile has withstood the elements well.

Impeccable details surround the windows and pillars.

The back of the courthouse and the old county jail, which is now being renovated into additional county office space.

The former Victoria post office is now an office building.

The courthouse is illuminated at night (even the clock!).
